If you transfer to Ontario and choose to cancel your BC license early, BCFSA may provide a prorated refund for the unused portion of your license.
This depends on timing and regulatory conditions and is not guaranteed.
For example, if a student:
1- Gets licensed in BC
2- Transfers to Ontario within 2 months
3- Cancels their BC license
They may receive a refund for the remaining months of the licensing term ($1,500- $ 300 (150X 2)= $1,200 refund
The BC pathway can offer a lower upfront cost and requires only 2 exams.
The main advantage is speed and simplicity, not just cost
Note: Ontario license fees still apply regardless of the path you choose.
